My Etsy Shop

Oh my, that was entirely too easy for a so so computer person like me. My shop is now open on Etsy. The link to get there is here on the blog.
I opened it with Peter's wonderful portrait. I will be listing more items there later today. If you get a chance, check it out.
My thanks to Carol, again, for being the brave one who jumped out first to test the waters. Props to you, my friend!
Have a grand day!

A Lovely Tuesday!

Greetings Faithful Readers,
It is another gorgeous day in Georgia. I just finished a new portrait yesterday. I am calling it the Many Faces of Peter. Peter is a dear friend of ours who is a wonderful Korean gentleman with a great face. I showed this to him and he said, "Oh no, I'm old man! Not art!!!" I had to laugh and assured him he has a fabulous face.
I am enjoying this new technique I have arrived at recently. I love doing the faces in clay and paper...gives an awesome texture to the pieces. I have my own special finish for it to add more dimension. The eyes are tricky, but a challenge is always good!
Things here are peaceful for now. Gearing up for the holidays which become a bit crazy, but that is a good thing.
I am considering an Etsy shop so check back to the blog here to get the new link. Should be a few weeks or sooner if I can get a few moments at the computer uninterrupted. LOL (not!)
Hope your day is filled with love!

Cool, Cool Monday!

Greetings All,
Fall is definitely here. Time to think about where in the world I am going to move my outdoor garden to this year. Every spring I promise myself I won't get more plants, but that never lasts long. LOL So, a bit of fall renovating inside to find a place for my lovelies!
My family in California are all fine and well. Everyone seems to have weathered the fires as well as they can. I am so thankful!
Off to go see what my creative spirit comes up with today. Ebay is slow, but I am trying to gear up for the holiday season. Check back this weekend as I will be listing then. My Ebay link is here on the blog.
Also, don't forget to check Carol's wonderful Etsy shop. She has so many cool items that would make fabulous one of a kind gifts this season.
Thank you all for your prayers!
Have a glorious day!
Cath

Wednesday!

Greetings Faithful Readers,
It is with a hopeful heart that I write this post. I have 9 family members who are directly affected by the Southern California fires. One family was forced to evacuate two days ago. We pray their home is safe. I am so thankful they were able to get out okay. And the winds seem to be dying out a little bit today.
My son is on alert for evacuation at present. My sister is on alert, also.
It is the hardest thing to be so far away from those we love in times of need, but prayer keeps us only a heartbeat away.
Please remember all those displaced families in your prayers. Every prayer helps!
And on a positive note, it has rained for almost 24 hours where I am in Georgia. Hopefully, some of this is hitting our lake system as the government here is saying we have 90 days of water left at this time. To quote a Corp. of Engineers official, we need "40 days and 40 nights of rain" to end this drought.
Time for me to get busy. May your day be filled with joy!

Super Sunday!

Greetings all,
I have been madly working on pieces all week as I realized my stash of items to list on Ebay was dwindling rapidly. Guess that is a good thing!
So, here is my latest. A Mod Geisha made with my signature handmade paper, leather, watercolor and some twigs I picked up on Tybee Island. She will be listed today on Ebay.
My dear friend, Carol, has given me some virtual lessons on felting and so far I seem to felt my fingers better than the wool! OUCH! But I am not going to give up. Check out her wonderful felted items on her Etsy site. A link is somewhere on this blog!
Things seem quiet here and I miss my grandbabies very much. It was such a joy to go to see them. They grow up so quickly. I am so thankful for the internet with new pictures sent to me often from my sweet daughter-in-law.
Anyway, hope your Sunday brings you all the blessings your heart can hold.
Peace,
Cath

Tuesday again?

Greetings All,
Seems I have the Tuesday blogs lately. I just returned from a fabulous visit to my son and his family in California. Jesseka turned 3 and Cayla is about 6 months old. I am so proud of them! MiMi here had a blast. Jesseka is a motor mouth like her Daddy was and doesn't forget anything you say.
My son brought out his skateboard and dared me to ride it. Of course, Jesseka and I couldn't say no! But at my age, skateboarding means sitting down on it. LOL Jesseka rode in the front yelling "Wonder Woman" all the way down the hill.
It is always so much fun to visit, but it makes me appreciate my nice quiet home. I had forgotten that babies need to eat at 5 a.m. Oh WOW!
Now I have another mountain of laundry and lots of emails to catch up on. Being a grandma MiMi is such a blessing. Children are our most wonderful legacy and to see them have children is beyond words.
So back to the fluff and fold......hugs to all

Another Terrific Tuesday

Greetings All!
It has been a bit wet here in Georgia. I was greeted this a.m. by Lexi who was wet from stem to stern! LOL She looks so funny when she is wet, so much smaller with those long skinny legs.
Ebay sales this weekend were kind...managed to sell 3 pieces. Thank you to my repeat buyers!
I am anxious to meet with my buyer for the commissioned piece. I sent her a preview and she is excited. That makes creating pieces so much fun.
I am finally able to go visit my grandbabies this week. They grow up entirely too fast. So I am madly trying to finish up loose ends and get my stuff ready. Seems I might need an extra suitcase for all the MiMi gifts I am bringing. (They call me MiMi)
Thank goodness for expandable rolling suitcases! LOL
Have a glorious rest of the week and I will be back charged up and ready to create soon!
Hugs to all!

She's Finished!

Greetings Dear Readers,
Well, here is the moment of unveiling.....Mackenzie is complete. She is a rainbow kind of spirit so she has many colors. This was a true test for me and my love for the handmade paper and clay. I am pleased with the results and ready to try something new!
Have a wonderful weekend. For all you art supporters out there, thank you! My Ebay sales are staying steady.
Peace,
Cath

Yahooooo!

Greetings Faithful Readers,
Well, I am so humbled right now I barely know what to type. I have received my first commissioned piece order. WOW! Thankfully, it was only specific to being a portrait.
Any of you who follow my creations know I tend to lean towards the funky side. So I bravely grabbed my flesh colored clay.....looked at the photo of this dearest little girl and created her face in a very large cab style adding some nose, mouth and bone definition. I was so excited when she came out of the oven I could hardly think. LOL
Next started the textured paper to give her face definition. Oh boy, I was ripping cool slubs of paper all afternoon! Next, with clay and paper what in the world do I make her sweet little wispy bob hair out of????? Gee, I found my beautifully textured leather and started cutting. I think I have a scissor thing going on.
So here I sit waiting for the latest paper layer to dry as I adjusted it today and chomping at the bit to place the last layer of lovely soft pink paper to her adorable face. Patience is truly a virtue at this moment...come on, dry you glue!
Tommorrow, the saga of the EYES! Oh my, Oh My!
Hope you all are enjoying the changing weather. It is lovely here. Inspired me to new heights for sure! Will post a pic of my portrait when she progresses above the "what is that????" stage.
Peace,
Cath

Monday, Monday!

Greetings all!
Well, I listed my newest creation on Ebay freshly inspired from Tybee Island. I have included a photo here for your viewing.
Also, as many of you know there is a wonderful artist organization for mixed media and indie artists called Variazone. This is the ZNE logo you see in many descriptions and listings on Ebay. It is a great bunch of artists who share ideas, techniques and photos of their work as well as friendship. Recently, two members suffered the lost of a child. Stevie and Brianna are being memorialized through an auction to raise money for a mosaic in their honor. The website for the auction is http://www.HopeSeesAStar.com
If you get a moment, check out the lovely works that have been donated to this cause.
I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. I only wish I had known about it sooner as I would gladly have donated a piece for auction. You can also just donate a few dollars if nothing strikes your fancy in the items for sale.
It certainly makes me realize even more that each day we have is precious and we need to always remember those we love and tell them! My blessings are many and with the love and support of my family and friends, it makes my life incredible.
Have a wonderful day!
