This style of encaustic is a two day process. Paint one or two layers the first day, then let them settle in. Then paint additional layers the next day.

Greetings from Sunny Georgia,
Hard to believe they are saying we may have snow showers tomorrow when it is a shirt sleeve day today.....ahhh, how quickly the weather can change.
Here is something new to me.....this is also an encaustic piece but it is only 4" square. I am fine tuning my style and it seems the little stuff is not as hard as I perceived it to be.
Stay warm, enjoy your loved ones and be safe.

Greetings All,
Here is another in the Shades series. I am currently working on one in reds, one in greens and a wonderful piece in blues. That should complete Shades.
Things are quiet here so I guess that means I need to get busy! Don't need an excuse to go play except I should be house cleaning. NOT!!! LOL

Greetings all!
Well today has been most interesting. Hubby Dear and I had to get up a lot earlier than usual as the electrician was coming first thing to fix a minor problem. Got that all done and Fred decided the bed was calling him.
So I am downstairs framing paintings, taking photos and playing in the studio when Lexi, the alarm dog goes off like a banshee. I thought someone was at the front door and as I got closer to it, I heard a strange squawking almost like a goose and then a loud mean meow. So, I grabbed the broom and headed around from the side door.
On the front porch was our neighbor's orange striped tabby standing guard. I heard the noise again and looked up to see a squirrel on the second story window! And boy was he aggravated! So here is the picture! He made a mad dash down to the porch railing and the side of the house once he figured out the cat has left!!!
Enjoy!!

Greetings!
Seems we dodged the bullet on this latest storm a few days ago and only got a windy rain storm.
Here is my American Indian tribute painting, Warrior Tears, done in encaustics. It is very vivid in color and has a ton of texture. I am so loving this medium!
Things here are quiet today so I am off to the studio to play. Just got in a new shipment of wax from www.artistsonja.com Awesome stuff, very true colors and a nice melt temperature. Thanks, Sonja!
Stay warm and hug those you love....

Enjoy your day!

Silver Moments

Greetings from wet Georgia!
Seems I have been in a reflective frame of mind lately. Mostly good thoughts and memories of times past. My mood seems to come through stronger in my encaustic pieces for what reason I do not know. Here is a piece from my "Shades" series.
Enjoy!

Greetings All,
A long, long time ago Momma Glenda told me if I continued to fill my pea brain with trivia, one day it would explode. Here is my newest self portrait, titled Trivial Explosion. (She was right, darnit!) Am really getting into my encaustic works and made another sale today. Thank you, Belle!
So take the time to smell the coffee, hug your loved ones and keep on keepin' on!

Just gotta keep sharing my Simple Man Cruise 2010 pictures. The guys in this photo are from two of my very favorite bands, Molly Hatchet and Swampdawamp. Talk about a bunch of characters! Hell Yea!!!!!!! Phil McCormack rules! (thanks for the call!)
Anyway, all you Southern Rock fans need to check out the new kids on the block, Swampdawamp. Talent up the wazoooooooo! And Molly Hatchet goes without saying....consistently entertaining down home Southern style music you can listen to every day of your life.
Check back soon for more photos. Peace to all....xoxoxo

Simple Man Cruise

All right all you Southern Rock freaks, check this picture out. When would this happen? Let's see if you can figure out who you are looking at. As one of these guys said, "This has never happened before!"
We had a blast. So many thanks to all the wonderful band members we met who took the time to visit, give autographs, pictures and just plain be friendly. It was so nice to actually talk to these guys and realize, hey they are great people! Long live Southern Rock! xoxoxo
p.s. I posted a new link straight back to my facebook encaustic works. While you are there, check out my other stuff and my son, Jesse's wonderful grafitti art. Peace

One thing about wax, it is fickle....meaning that if you get the perfect spot laid down and accidentally hit it with the heat of the iron again, it is gone. This is one medium where patience and a steady hand is totally a virtue! Enjoy!

More encaustic work, this one painted on a matt board which allowed more texture.
I wish I could take sideways shots so you could see the wax levels.

Wax is an incredible medium as long as you watch your fingers!! It is HOT!

Starship Gallery

Seems I have so neglected my blog so here are some of my latest encaustic pieces. I am so enamored with this medium! For those of you unfamiliar, it is painting with molten wax using an iron. The iron looks like a small travel iron....no brushes, pens, pencils, etc., just the iron and my imagination.

Fred says I am really twisted. I am taking that as a compliment. LOL

Peace and a prosperous happy new year to all.
